A lot of browsers are set up with
strong security features to help keep you and
your data safe on the internet. One of those
common security features is to block
third-party cookies from gathering your data.
Most of the time this does keep your
information safe. However, it can sometimes
deny you access to EdTech tools, such as
Canvas, Kaltura, or anything else that you are
working with in an online class at SLCC. The
error message may look similar to this:
It seems like your browser is blocking 3rd party session cookies which are required for the Kaltura application. To resolve this issue, please update your settings to allow 3rd party cookies.
Fortunately this is easy to resolve,
but the instructions are different depending
on the browser you are using. The following
links contain up to date instructions on how
to do this.
Note: Before doing anything, make sure that your browser is updated to the latest version.
- Turn
Cookies on or off
in Chrome (computer, Android,
iPhone, and iPad)
- Enable
Cookies in
Safari on Mac
- Note: Ensure that Prevent
cross-site
tracking and Block
all cookies are both
unchecked
- To enable cookies in Safari (iPhone or
iPad):
- Open the iOS Settings (gear icon)
- Scroll and select Safari, or swipe down to
use the search field
- Disable the Allow Cross-Website Tracking
slider
- Disable the Block All Cookies slider
As browsers update and change
you may find that some of these
instructions are out of date. If you need
any extra help with this, reach out to the
SLCC Help Desk at 801-957-5555 or email helpdesk@slcc.edu.
