Class for Zoom is a platform that
your instructor might be using to create
classroom Zoom sessions that mimic face to
face classrooms as much as possible. The
program is meant to be a more inclusive,
interactive, and engaging digital environment.
You can access Class for Zoom either through a
web browser, or an app that you download. We
recommend downloading the app, but if your
instructor does not have a preference, the
web version works just as well.
Using your web browser
Fortunately, launching Class
for Zoom from the web browser is easy.
When you are prompted to launch Class
for Zoom, you will have the option to
either Launch Class or Launch Class for Web.
Choose Launch Class for Web, and
follow the instructions. The following
guide shows how to do it as well.
Note: Safari, Firefox, and Edge are
not supported by Class
for Zoom. If a student can not access Class for
Zoom, we recommend checking that they are
using an up-to-date Chrome browser, or to download the app.
Download and install the
app
If your instructor wants you
to use the app, then the following
instructions are for you. Follow these
steps to download and
install the app. There are a lot of
steps, but fortunately you will only
have to do this once.
- Navigate to https://slcc.class.com/ to
download the latest version of
Class
- Install class using the
installation
wizard (Note: Do not edit
the
username or organization
fields)
Sign into the app
This initial sign in process can be
confusing, and some of it does not feel
intuitive. But if you follow these
instructions precisely then you will be
able
to sign in.
- Launch Class
- Click Sign In
- Click “Allow this app to use my
shared access permissions,” then
click
the “Allow” button (Note: This happens
only
once and allows Class to
create
Zoom meetings on your
behalf)
- Click SSO at the bottom of the
screen, underneath the key
icon
- Type “slcc-edu” in the Company
Domain field
- Sign into the SSO if prompted,
which
will probably involve a DUO
push
At this point, the app is set up and you
can join your Class for Zoom sessions in
